AI Use & Editorial Policy
Effective:
Dormy uses AI tools in producing educational content and remains responsible for what it publishes. From the effective date, this policy sets the standard for new and materially revised content. It covers AI assistance, human review, proportionate source checking and corrections.
How does Dormy use AI?
AI may assist with research, organizing source material, outlining, drafting sentences, sections or full articles, and editing for clarity. AI output can help locate information, but it is not evidence for a factual claim. The supporting source must be checked directly.
AI may be used to produce illustrative images. When used, they must be identified as illustrations and must not be presented as photographs of actual clients, transactions, holdings or events.
Who is responsible for the content?
Dormy is accountable for its published content and corrections. A human reviewer must approve the proposed version before publication under this policy. Authorship and review credits must describe work actually performed. A publishing approval alone does not establish that factual review has been completed.
What must be checked before publication?
A human reviewer must read the complete proposed page for accuracy, clarity and balance. Material factual claims must have reliable support. Source checking should be proportionate to the claim’s significance, the risk of an error and how readily the information changes. Tax and retirement rules, rollover deadlines, eligibility, fees, quotations and statements about returns or financial risks require closer checking against relevant primary material.
Research assistance and tools may help gather sources, check calculations and flag possible errors. A human reviewer must assess that support and resolve material concerns; AI output alone is not verification. Unsupported material claims must be corrected, removed or held. Estimates and uncertainty must be clearly qualified. Review must also cover titles, descriptions, structured data, captions and alternative text. Material changes require renewed review.
What must never be fabricated?
AI must not be used to invent quotations, interviews, client stories, testimonials, reviews, sources, credentials, firsthand experience or financial results. Claims about Dormy must be supported by its actual records. Hypothetical examples must be clearly identified and their calculations checked.
How will readers see AI use and review status?
Pages substantially drafted with AI must carry a short notice explaining that role and linking to this policy. Where assistance was limited to research, organization or editing, any notice must accurately describe that narrower role. A named review credit must reflect actual personal review. An approval credit requires actual approval, and a review date must identify a review that took place.
David Love personally reviewed Dormy’s existing educational content. Our review process aims to improve accuracy, clarity and balance; it does not guarantee error-free content. This policy’s proportionate source-checking standard applies to new and materially revised content from the effective date. Older pages involving tax rules, retirement transactions, fees or financial risks will be prioritized for additional source checking. A known material error must be corrected or the affected content withheld while it is investigated.
What information may be used in editorial AI tools?
Under this policy, editorial AI tools may process public source material and non-confidential editorial drafts. Client account information, identity documents, payment details, private correspondence and confidential business information must not be entered into those tools for editorial work. This policy makes no representation about a provider’s training or retention settings. Any separate data-handling statement must match the tools, settings and terms actually in use.
How can an error be reported and corrected?
We aim to provide accurate, useful information, but errors or outdated information may occur despite our editorial review. If you spot a possible error, please contact us with the page link and details so we can investigate and make any necessary corrections.
Dormy remains responsible for investigating and correcting verified errors, including affected metadata. Material factual corrections will include a dated explanation on the page. A review date changes only after an actual review, not merely because wording or formatting changed.
