Risk Disclosure
Physical precious metals carry real risks. Please read carefully before making a decision.
Last updated: July 2026
1. Market risk
Gold, silver, platinum, and palladium prices fluctuate and can decline. The value of your holdings can move materially in short periods based on macroeconomic conditions, currency movements, real interest rates, and market sentiment. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
2. Premium & spread
Physical metals trade at a premium above the spot reference price to reflect fabrication, distribution, and dealer costs. A spread exists between the price to buy and the price to sell. Realized proceeds on liquidation may be lower than the price paid, even if the spot price is unchanged.
3. Liquidity
Physical metals are generally liquid, but liquidity depends on product, market conditions, and buyer availability. Certain numismatic or premium products may carry wider spreads and more limited resale markets than standard bullion.
4. Storage & custody
Storage in an IRS-approved depository is provided by a third-party depository, not by Dormy, Inc. Fees, insurance terms, and access procedures are governed by the depository's own agreements. Home storage of IRA-owned metals is not permitted by the IRS.
5. Custodian & IRA rules
A self-directed IRA holding precious metals requires a qualified custodian. Contribution limits, distribution rules, required minimum distributions, prohibited-transaction rules, and tax treatment are governed by the Internal Revenue Code and applicable regulations. Errors can trigger taxes and penalties. Consult a qualified tax professional before acting.
6. Not FDIC insured
Physical precious metals are not deposits and are not insured by the FDIC, SIPC, or any other government agency. Depository insurance protects against specified physical loss events per the depository's policy, it is not investment insurance.
7. Not investment advice
Dormy, Inc. does not provide legal, tax, or personalized investment advice. Information provided is general in nature. You are responsible for determining whether physical precious metals are appropriate for your financial circumstances and objectives.
8. Fraud & unrealistic claims
Be skeptical of any dealer that guarantees returns, promises “risk-free” or “crash-proof” outcomes, or pressures you to buy quickly. Dormy does not, and will not, make such claims.
