Price lock, in plain English.

Published Updated

A price lock fixes the agreed transaction price at the point specified by the provider's order process. An indicative written quote and its expiration are not necessarily a locked trade. Confirm when the lock occurs and which written terms govern.

How is a price lock different from a quote?

A quote describes proposed pricing and its conditions. A lock concerns an actual transaction under the agreed process. Ask what event fixes the price, what still must happen before placement, and whether any charges are separate from that price.

When does Dormy lock the price?

Under Dormy's published order process, you authorize the trade on a recorded compliance call. Dormy places it directly afterward, and the price locks on placement, not when the indicative quote is issued. The written order confirmation governs the transaction. Other providers may use different procedures.

How does a price lock show up in practice?

Keep the quote and final confirmation together. Check the product, quantity, executed price and applicable charges. The quote's expiration concerns the indication before placement; it does not by itself reopen a price already locked under the order terms.

A term on your quote you don't recognize?

Ask a specialist to define it, in writing, no commitment.
